American Copper and Silver Japonisme Smoking or Cigar Lamp, Gorham Manufacturing Company, Providence, RI, 1883
Originally designed to light the end of a cigar, this lamp is adorned with a cast dragon handle and two sets of silver appliques. One side depicts a decorative fan, and the other side depicts a boy hunting an unsuspecting squirrel perched on a branch with a blowpipe. The small pellet can be seen midway between the hunter and his target.
