American Sterling Silver Handwrought Commemorative Ornament, The World of Beatrix Potter, Hand & Hammer, Woodbridge, VA, 2002
This collection of handmade ornaments depicts characters from the famous Peter rabbit books written an illustrated by Beatrix Potter, which have been enchanting children throughout the world for four generations. Beatrix Potter was born in London in 1866 and Doreen her rather lonely childhood she studied art and natural history. The first Peter Rabbit was a school room pet, and she learned to love the countryside and its animal inhabitants during childhood holidays in Scotland, and in the English Lake district where she made her home for the last 30 years of her life. The Peter Rabbit books have been translated into many foreign languages, and no other animal stories have so captivated the imagination of children and adults alike. These little books should be among the first owned by any children and their appeal is as fresh as when the first story was published more than 80 years ago.
this ornament commemorates the 100th anniversary of Peter Rabbit.
