Japanese Sterling Silver Overlay Glass Bitters Bottle, Arthur and Bond, Yokohama, Circa 1890
The English owned firm, Arthur and Bond, were important silversmiths and retailers located in Yokohama at the turn of the twentieth century. They enjoyed a reputation among tourists and ex-pats for exceptional quality silverware. Arthur and Bond's most significant commission was the Liscum Bowl, which was dedicated to Colonel Emerson H. Liscum, regimental commander of the 9th United States Infantry.
This is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips in the glass.
