ASTONISHING PAIR OF
FRENCH 1st STANDARD SILVER (950/1000)
SALT STANDS
The House of Odiot remains
synonymous with extraordinary talent, superb craftsmanship, and exceptional
artistry as it enters its fourth century in business. Experts regard
the firm's founder, Jean-Baptiste Gaspard Odiot, to be one of the finest
silversmiths of all time. His grandson, Jean-Baptiste Claude, received
many important commissions from Napoleon, including the sacred scepter
and sword and the King of Rome's cradle. Charles Nicholas, who mastered
the rocaille style, continued his father's legacy and became purveyor
by appointment to King Louis-Philippe, the Royal Family of Orleans and
many royal families throughout Europe.
