The stores on King Street have provided the highest quality merchandise and latest items of fashion for three centuries, not only to Charleston's affluent society but also to discriminating collectors around the globe. This legacy continues today with The Silver Vault of Charleston.

Located at 195 King Street, we strive to offer superior decorative arts, with an emphasis on silver and brass. Along with our sister shop, The Brass and Silver Workshop and its master silversmith, Alfred L. Crabtree, Jr., we combine fifty five years of experience to deliver comprehensive evaluations including style, maker, origin and construction.

Four criteria direct and govern shop acquisitions: craftsmanship, condition, rarity, and provenance. These criteria provide our clients with superb investment opportunities.

As a result of our clients' desires, we focus on 18th and 19th century American coin and sterling, English, French, Russian, Chinese export, and Continental silver. Southern coin silver maintains a constant prominence. A variety of decorative arts, ranging from a sixteenth century brass sanctuary lamp to a 2Oth century oil portrait from a Lowcountry artist, accentuate the silver. We invite you to view the largest and most comprehensive painting collection of Minnie Mikell, the prominent 20th century Charleston artist.

Store tradition encourages continued advancement of collections through upgrades. We will allow full credit for any piece purchased in house, given same condition, towards another piece in inventory.

In addition to research and experience guaranteeing each piece in inventory, we offer evaluation services on family heirlooms. A thorough assessment is made, addressing material, craftsmanship, condition, and current market indicators. Additionally, our brokerage services prove essential for discerning collectors. Please contact us for further details. As relationships are of the utmost importance, client discretion is always observed.

All pieces are subject to prior sale.
